As a student and advocate of Agroecology, I have studied and worked broadly and deeply searching for a set of practices and frameworks that can allow not just survival, but flourishing in the 21st century and beyond.
I have worked with plants for over a decade, but my life has opened up and aligned such that I can now pursue a much broader goal.
Fusing my film, broadcasting, literature, anthropology, plant science, and nuts-n-bolts real life experience in agriculture and horticulture, I have spent years gearing up with cameras, computers, a nimble little SubaruHouse, and a map of places and people to visit.
I want to make science communication media about the exciting and civilizationally important questions, answers, and mysteries that will feed the children and animals of 2050 and beyond.
While I worked nonstop for years, my hungry mind escaped into a sea of audiobooks, video documentarians, and podcasts. The lo-fi, high information style of my many media parasocial pals has given me blessing to be imperfect, and I can post novel knowledge accessibly for donations alongside a life of plant-based service.
I am planning as grand a road trip documentary adventure as I can afford.
And that's where YOU 🫵🏽 come in.
Even though I resigned from my position as Grower at a wholesale nursery, I still work doing odd jobs, keeping my expenses low.
But in the Internet Age, it is becoming more and more apparent that if you have a message, use the medium, and never stop hustling, the people with whom you resonate can make amazing things happen one donation or connection at a time.
The first series I'm planning is Feeding Everybody Without Killing Everything, which will have a skeptical and curious approach, mixing my real life quest to find scientific research to which to dedicate the second half of my life.
The second series I'm planning is Fungal Phyla. As a student of mycology, I was dazzled and delighted by the variety and mystery of fungal taxon0my. Mycology is becoming surprisingly popular, but most of the media I see is focused on a small fraction of the total diversity. I see an opportunity to make accessible and informative media for the novelty-hungry minds of mycology people. Who knows, maybe I'll inspire a little kid to grow up into the savior of billions by getting them curious about Dark Septate Endophytes.
In the short term, my goal is to get to Beltsville, Maryland, where the USDA has its Agricultural Research Center, National Agriculture Library, and of particular relevance to Fungal Phyla, the USDA Fungarium, with a vast collection of fungi.
I am a one-person documentary crew, can live anywhere in my SubaruHouse, and all I need is your support.
Videos will be forthcoming and I will try to make this site as vibrant and worth a periodic visit as possible.
